OnlineNursingDegrees.org Awards Two Nursing Scholarships

It was announced today that OnlineNursingDegrees.org (http://www.onlinenursingdegrees.org) officially awarded two separate $ 500 nursing scholarships for 2011. Each scholarship contest was independently sponsored by OnlineNursingDegrees.org.
Megan Elliot, a nursing student attending classes at University of West Georgia, was selected as the recipient of the 2011 Atlanta Nursing Scholarship(http://www.onlinenursingdegrees.org/financial-aid/atlanta-nursing-scholarship-contest.htm). This $ 500 scholarship was offered to all Atlanta-area nursing students. Mollie Schonberg, a nursing student from Ironwood, Michigan, who is attending classes at University of Wisconsin Green Bay, was selected as the recipient of the 2011 Mary Blake Single Parent Nursing Scholarship (http://www.onlinenursingdegrees.org/financial-aid/single-parent-scholarship-contest.htm). This $ 500 scholarship is an annual contest offered to qualified nursing students nationwide.
The participants in both scholarship contests spanned more than 80 nursing schools in states all over the country. Hundreds of nursing students participated, submitting essays on why they deserved consideration alongside other qualified applicants. They were encouraged to tell their own stories, in their own words.
“The relative costs associated with a higher education are a burden shared by all students,” said Martin Lamers of OnlineNursingDegrees.org. “We seek to ease this burden for students who show us something extra. Rewarding the hard work of nursing students and celebrating their commitment to health care through financial scholarship is our way of trying to ‘give back’ to the nursing community,” Lamers said.
Lamers continued: “Our participation this year was so well received, we have continued our scholarship opportunities for nursing students into next year and beyond. We will continue to look for unique ways to celebrate the individual behind the stethoscopes and textbooks: we are applauding and rewarding the work of tomorrow’s nurses, today. “
Online Nursing Degrees.org was created in 2007 as a web-based informational resource for individuals looking to pursue nursing-related education and careers. In 2011 they began issuing independently sponsored scholarships to deserving nursing students as an annual means to “give back” to nursing.
