Grantham University Sponsors Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Kansas City

Grantham University, a 60-year-old institution delivering accredited online degrees to working adult students around the world, is a proud sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday, Aug. 14.
This is the third consecutive year Grantham has supported the race as a $ 10,000 Silver Sponsor. Additionally, the University has a team of 52 runner/walkers set to head to the 7:30 a.m. race start at the historic Union Station.
“Cancer doesn’t discriminate and the Grantham University community has certainly been affected,” said Dr. Fred Snow, president of Grantham. “Nearly 300,000 women and men in America will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. That’s 300,000 too many in our estimation. Grantham is proud to give back to the community by raising money to aid in efforts to eradicate the disease.”
In addition to the sponsorship, Team Grantham already has raised more than $ 3,500. The money was collected through donations and events such as a bake sale, pie-throwing event, golf tournament and car wash. All of the monies raised at the race will be used for research, education, screening and treatment programs, with up to 75 percent of the money staying in the Kansas City area, where Grantham’s headquarters is located.
Grantham University’s accredited online degree programs are flexible and portable, allowing students to fit education into their life instead of arranging life around their education. In 2010, the University launched the College of Nursing and Allied Health which offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in: Nursing, Health Sciences, and Medical Coding and Billing.
